"Wako Asobinomori" (Asomori) is the festival of children's outdoor play, for enjoying large group games, in Wako Jurin Park, which has a large open space with grass. About 1,000 people, including 600 kids, their parents, and staffs, joined each event held so far.

Tag games with 100 people, cardboard castle games with a truck-load of pieces of cardboard  we organize a variety of plays with a concept of "large games".

Concept

"If we could play with a large group in a large park, it should be fun!" Such conversation was the beginning of our activity, which we launched in the end of 2009. Since then, we could find a lot of opportunities for mingling with kids, adults, and even elderly people, through play. Every people can play. If we can make the common plays larger with more people, the local community would be more lively – this is the reason why we have continued our activity.

For Local Community

It is our great pleasure and achievement to have people who remember and keep in touch with us due to the event. We actually have been able to keep our activity, thanks to helpful cooperation and support by local residents.

How can we make more fun play? How can we play with more people? We would like to grow the network which has roots in play! Our challenge goes on and on...

Project Team

Project Team of Wako Asobinomori (Team Asomori) is presided over by Children, Future and Wako, a non-governmental organization. The team is consist of a dozen youths working or studying in Tokyo metropolitan area, and its activity is based on three concepts: building connections with local community members; enjoying large group games; and not being a supervisor of children but a player with them.

A regular meeting is held twice a month at a place near Wako station.
